I came across of this very simple & insightful paper touching a matter we all struggle with and it will only get worse!
Embrace the discomfort of not knowing, Let go of Perfectionism are my favorites plus I would add two more - Accept failure as integral part of your leadership & operations and Trust & Empower your team, they'll do the right thing for you.
Throughout my past 20 years of corporate career in Shared Services & Outsourcing business, I've seen many fantastic Leadership examples and very many, regrettable I must say it was a majority, poor Leadership examples. Reflecting on it now - I would call out 3 main factors which were common for fantastic Leadership:
a). We were trusted & empowered with a great freedom to run the show.
b). We were not expected to assure always top-notch quality, let's say 80/20 rules was what we followed ... in most cases. And yes, there were Clients where 100% was our target however Perfectionism was not our only way. We were driven by Client Experience as the key driver.
c). Failures & hiccups were considered as lessons learnt - basis for future enhancements. It had a great correlation with innovative and courageous ideas, making a difference to our Clients / Stakeholders.
Concluding - your team is key to leading through uncertainty - your team is key to your success!
